Of late, many automakers have updated their pickups trucks, not to be left behind; Mazda has also decided to upgrade the 2019 Mazda BT-50 which made its first debut in 2010. The vehicle which is in its second generation will still be offered in three cabin styles which are Regular cab, Freestyle Cab and Double cab. 2019 Mazda BT-50 Exterior and Interior
The 2019 Mazda BT-50 will feature a number of changes. Having made its maiden debut in 2010, the vehicle was long overdue for an upgrade. Mazda has used the ‘Kodo’ design language on its styling. The model will be offered in either 2 doors or four doors. The front fascia features a redesigned radiator grille flanked by redesigned headlights. The headlights feature new black housings. Turn signals have been placed on its side mirrors. The front bumper has also been redesigned. The vehicle will ride on new 19-inch alloy wheels with high trim models riding on 22-inch alloy wheels.
The interior of the new Mazda has received an upgrade meant to make it look more like that of a regular car as opposed to a truck. The BT-50 cabin will be upholstered in leather with a new stitching pattern. The cabin is slightly enlarged meaning the bed will be a bit smaller compared to the outgoing model. The cabin will accommodate five passengers with plenty of head and legroom. Mazda’s latest MZD Connect infotainment system will also be featured along with modern tech’ features such as Bluetooth connectivity and Smartphone integration. Mazda has carefully factored in safety features on the new Mazda. They include 6 airbags, traction control, brake assist and stability control among others.
2019 Mazda BT-50 Engine
Unlike the outgoing model, the 2019 Mazda will feature two engines. The first engine is the carryover 3.2 L TDCI turbo diesel unit. This engine is capable of producing 197 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque. The new engine is a 2.2 L TDCI, 4-cylinder unit which is capable of producing 158 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque. Both engines will be mated to either a 6- speed manual transmission system or a 6-speed automatic system.
2019 Mazda BT-50 Price and Release Date
The Mazda BT-50 sales will commence this last quarter of 2018. The base single cab model has a starting price of $ 26,000 with the top trim model attracting a $54,000 price tag. The 2019 Mazda BT-50 will face main competition from the 2019 Mitsubishi L200, Toyota Hilux, 2019 Ford Ranger and 2019 GMC Terrain.
